The P2 Mk 2 antitank mine, like the other Pakistani antitank mines, uses a very unique detonation mechanism. A Pakistani antipersonnel mine (like a P2 Mk 2 or P4 Mk 1) is placed under the raised reinforced plastic pressure plate cover. If 180-300 kg of force is applied to this cover plate, it will break, allowing the antipersonnel mine to function. The antipersonnel mine therefore serves as both the fuze and booster, setting off the main charge of the P2 Mk 2 antitank mine. The mine can also be emplaced without the pressure plate cover, essentially making it difficult to detect. Although rarely used, a large metallic detector ring is shipped with the mine to aid in the detection.
The mine has two fuze wells and does not have a power source.
The mine case is brown, 270 mm wide, and 130 mm high.
