Description
This is a percussion primed cartridge incorporating a fragmentation, high explosive incendiary with tracer (frag-HEIT) projectile. The projectile contains a setback and centrifugally armed, impact fired, point detonating self-destroying (PDSD) fuze. The self-destroying feature is a setback initiated pyrotechnic delay powder train.
The cartridge case is varnished dark green; the projectile body is black-oxide-coated. The tip of the fuze body is lacquered reddish purple; the remainder is unpainted. The fuze has its nomenclature and manufacturing information stamped in the body. Manufacturing information is stamped in the base of the cartridge case.
