This scatterable antivehicular blast mine complements the PFM-1 (and PFM-1S) antipersonnel mine.
Both of these mines have been extensively used by former Soviet forces in Afghanistan. After ejection from the scattering system, a pyrotechnic element arms the mine (following a 30-second delay), initiates a clockwork self-destruct delay timer, and releases a safety bock enabling the mine pressure sensor. The clockwork timer has 12 incremental settings ranging from 1 to 20, presumably hours. Longitudinally inside the mine is a pressure tube that transmits pressure to the fuze.
The mine is OD green.
