The Type 51 AT mine is a copy of the former Soviet TMD-B AT mine. The Type 51 consists of a centrally located fuze well accessible through a square or round hole cut in the top of the box body. Three grooved boards are placed across the top of the mine to function as a pressure plate. A wood strip may be placed through the two outer boards, at the option of the user, to increase or decrease the pressure required for detonation. The single noteworthy difference between the Type 51 and the TMD-B is that the Type 51 has a wood strip attached to the end of the mine, by which a rope carrying handle is inserted.
