Figure shows the appearance and dimensions of the SB-81 and SB-81/AR-AN landmines. Both mines are identical in appearance and dimensions. The SB-81 is a pressure actuated, high explosive, nonmetallic, scatterable antitank (AT) landmine. The SB-81/AR-AN landmine is also pressure-actuated but includes antidisturbance and self-neutralizing (through battery bleed-down) features. These mines are normally deployed by ground vehicles or helicopter carried dispensers. Both mines incorporate an anti-shock feature which reduce the effects of landmine countermeasure techniques such as fuel air explosives (FAE) and explosive line charge systems.
The mines are normally olive drab or light brown although they may be found in any color depending on user country requirements. The detonator plug is green and the shipping plug is blue. There are no known markings on the mines.
