1519-155a

Description

These mines are a smaller version of the Soviet PMD-6, having smaller overall dimensions, less weight, and less explosive. Both mines have a hinged lid and employ an MUV pull fuze.

The PMD-7 mines are laid in antipersonnel minefields. Frequently they are interspersed in antitank minefields around outposts and gun positions, along trails and road shoulders, and in grassy areas.

Note - More modern bodies may be made of wood, plastic, or metal.

Functioning

Pressure on the lid forces the winged retaining pin from the spring-driven striker, which is released against the detonator, firing the mine.
