Description

The appearance and dimensions of the DM-28 practice mine are identical to the DM-31. The DM-31 is a bounding, fragmentation, APERS landmine. The DM-28 is a non-bounding, smoke practice mine used for training. The DM-56 fuze is pull or pressure initiated. The DM-31 mine projecting sleeve and fuze are olive drab. The DM-31 has the type, designation, filler, and manufacturer stenciled on the projecting sleeve in yellow. The color and markings of the DM-28 practice mine are unknown. A red shipping cap covers the primer. The DM-28 and DM-31 mines are steel. The detonator well plug is plastic. The fuze body is brass, the moisture seal is a fiber washer, and the shipping cap is plastic.
