Description
These are electrically and/or mechanically initiated infrared (IR) countermeasures flares launched from aircraft to misdirect incoming heat-seeking missiles.
The mechanical version can be identified by the letters MCF in the lot number. The MJU-7A/B contains a hybrid (parasitic and mechanical) ignition system. The cartridge cases are chemically colored gold, and marked in black with the nomenclature and manufacturing data. The parasitic version can be identified by the letters MBT in the lot number. The end cap is red.
