1508-094

Description

Identical to M71 except for the addition of a tracer threaded to the projectile base and a different propelling charge which gives a reduction in muzzle velocity. The projectile is assembled with either a point-detonating superquick or delay fuze.

The projectile is painted olive drab with yellow markings.

Functioning

When the weapon is fired, the burning propellant ignites the tracer and creates gases which propel the projectile out of the gun tube. The tracer burns for a minimum of three seconds. Upon impact, the fuze functions on superquick or delay, as preset, and detonates the high-explosive filler producing blast and fragmentation.
