Description
The bomb body is completely smooth. The bomb body has a cup with firing pin, but no fuze. The stabilizer assembly is the same as the BLU-3/B. The bomb body is aluminum, all other materials are the same as the BLU-3/B. The BDU-28/B does not incorporate a drive spring, arming slide, detonator, or escapement mechanism.
Functioning
When the BDU-28/B is ejected from the dispenser, air pressure lifts off the spring tab which releases the safety strap holding the vanes together. The vanes then spring outward, stabilizing and orienting the bomb in its fall. Since the bomb does not contain explosives, it will not detonate upon impact with the target.
