These are medium capacity (MC) high explosive (HE) bombs of the 1,000 pound weight class. A medium capacity bomb is one in which the explosive weight approximates 50 percent of the total weight. The practice bombs are specially loaded versions of the service bombs and carry the same Mk designation. The practice bombs may contain HE. Most of the bombs are arranged for fuzing in both the nose and tail, however, certain Mks are designed for tail fuzing only. Fuzing consists of a variety of (1) pistols/detonators (nose and/or tail), (2) fuzes (nose and/or tail), or (3) combinations of pistols/detonators and fuzes (nose and/or tail).
